Melbourne, the Cafe Capital - The Old Melbourne Goal

Many people are curious about prison but nobody want to become a prisoner. In Old Melbourne Gaol, you can explore this over 100-year old jail as a visitor.

The cells on the sides were for criminals, offenders, metal illness and even homeless.

A simulation model how a prisoner spent a day in the oldest gaol.

The most frightening punishment.
This attraction is very visitor friendly for it organizes many interactive activities. This was a story session specially for kids but even adults were attracted.
Some merchandizes.

Unluckily, the chauffeur and me were arrested and thrown into a watch house. "Attention!", the charge sergeant shouted. Then, he led us together with other offenders to see where we would be locked up. Property price of this watch house was probably one of the highest in the world. A micro cell was for up to over 10 people where everybody could only sit but not laid down. No worry, it was a tour called the Watch House Experience. I highly recommend it.

Another interactive tour was Old City Court. It was a court role-play written on the basis of the gaol's legend. Every participant could take up a role to see how a court run in the past. Very interesting. It's my another recommendation.
