Once A Year in Singapore - Some Local Flavors

What kind of food taste the best in Singapore? Definitely those dishes appear on the local's menu often. Here are some recommendations.

Kenyan toast is my all time favorite in Singapore. The locals prefer to add soy sauce and peppers for a boiled egg.

This eatery specializes in stuffed bean curd which is identical with a long queue. My conclusion is the queuing time worths.

Chicken rice is also a must-try dish in Singapore. Lucky I found this recommended eatery and got my take away version of chicken rice before I left Singapore.

Once A Year in Singapore - Snapshots

A lazy giant near Victoria Hotel. Why he's in sky blue? Any implication?

How sensual can it be?

Old style building around Chinatown.

A Buddhism temple. Not sure why the exterior is more or less in Japanese style.

Chijmes was once a Catholic convent, of which day time can better reflect its purity in the past. Back to years ago, who could imagine this convent now houses a number of restaurants and pubs which are many party animals' favorite at night.

Once A Year in Legoland - Legoland

Lucky Legoland aims mainly kids and their parents, so non-excitement seekers like me can still enjoy a day in the amusement park.

Safe ride recommendation 1: Observation Tower which allows visitors to view the entire park.

Safe ride recommendation 2:Legoland Express which drives you to see part of the park.

No excitement means boredom to you? Ok, let's challenge your mind (well not guts).

Challenge No. 1: Build your own Lego tower and check out if it can survive under earthquake.

Challenge No. 2: Create your own Lego car with the gears you dream of. Then, compete against your mates on the designated routs. Who is the winner? Simple is always the best.

Challenge No. 3: Collect all Pokémon species... Wait, these cuties serve as ambassadors at Legoland Mindstorms only. Please greet them rather than grab them.

The real challenge is to complete 4 assigned tasks through giving proper instructions to your Lego robot. Challenging but fun.

Challenge No. 4: Put out the fire, stop the robbery, save your community. The city needs you, hero.

I had this second visit after almost 10 months from the last trip. It's pity to see the park has been worn out some how. For example, a dino doesn't spark water anymore, some seats in the 4D theater are broken, the balloon men disappeared.... Not sure why the park can be depreciated like that in such a short time. Hope the situation will be improved soon.

Lastly, here's the front gate of the park in night view. Keep up!

Once A Year in Legoland - Room at Legoland Hotel

Staying at the Legoland Hotel was the best decision I made for this trip. Both my friend and me enjoy the stay at the hotel with easy access to Legoland and Legoland Waterpark.

In comparison to the exterior, the interior settings are far much more awesome. Visitors can find Lego elements everywhere inside the hotel rooms. As a Lego fans, I consider the hotel as a giant luxury box full of excitements.

Well-designed welcome pack which followed me home. The cute signages are still attached to the room.

The official website reminds parents not to let their kids to kiss the frog.

But you can try to open the treasure chest under it. My friend successfully answered the questions and open it. What we got? 4 little Lego-themed gifts. Thanks mate.

Guests can choose their favorite theme from 3 options, including kingdom, pirate and adventure. You can tell my pick was kingdom from the bedding, curtains and wallpaper, etc.

Families are the hotel's target audience. Every room comes with 1 bed for 2 adults and a bunk bed for up to 3 kids.

Remember to check every corner of the room. See, we found a Lego butterfly at the door. And there were other Lego friends in room. What to do after the parks are closed? No worry, you can find out the Lego bricks in the room and build your model during the stay. This arrangement is so sweet.

The best of the best in the hotel is ..... carpet! It features the details of the theme of the floor which is a masterpiece in my eyes. I would have one at home. Hei, Merlin, will you consider to produce Legoland carpet? Fans are waiting to bring it home at reasonable price.

I love the Legoland hotel so much! Hope it is well-kept for future visitors.

Once A Year in Legoland - Legoland Water Park

Besides Legoland, my friend and me also visited the newly launched Waterpark.

It's a good idea to have an easy ride on a Lego raft under a super hot day. Easy? See the fierce water and decide.

Various kinds of slides are my friend's favorites.

This ride looks fun. Pity it was closed for maintenance.

Some facilities do not require swimming skills.

Filming of a promotion campaign to attract more visitors. In fact, there were not many visitors in the theme park. Hope the campaign help.

Once A Year in Legoland - Legoland Hotel

Let's go to Legoland again! Yeah! Where to stay? Certainly the newly established Legoland Hotel next to the amusement park.

View of the newly established Legoland Hotel. It was still under construction last May.

Surprise! Several Lego figures accompany my friend and me to take the lift. Music and disco ball lighting is on when the lift door is closed. I love this setting so much!

Important moments in Lego frames can be found in the hotel lobby. The one below is the official opening of the first Legoland in Asia.

I was very exited to see this Lego figure wall. See the wheels of the bicycle are magnifying glasses which allow visitors to see some rows of figures more clearly.

Besides of nice staff, visitors also welcome by Lego dino and Lego pirates in the lobby.

Play area where kids would stay as long as possible.

More Lego models in the restaurant which offers quality breakfast. You can pick a table in balcony in good weather so that you can oversee the park.

Guard of the hotel. Feel safe after meeting this big guy?

Ping Shan Heritage Trial

Ping Shan Heritage Trial is an easy walking route which allows you to learn more about the past of Hong Kong from several traditional Chinese buildings along the way.

This building located on a hill was once a police headquarter of Ping Shan, which now serves as Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery cum Heritage Trail Visitors Centre introducing the old lifestyle, especially those related to the Tang Clan.

The door gods safeguard the Tang Ancestral Hall, where the Tangs worship their ancestors and celebrate occasions.

These animals are not simply for decorations use but also carry wishes to the owner's families.

Kun Ting Study Hall was built for the guys of the family to study and prepare public exams, a way to become officials in the past.

Beautiful interiors of the buildings.

Sheung Cheung Wai, is  a walled village. Many of the houses behind the wall are very modernized now.

A modern building in the middle of the old ones. A scene which the new meets the old.
