Okinawa, the Beautiful Island - しまぶた屋 (for Agu Pork)

Agu Pork is one of essential ingredients that Okinawa is proud of. To savor its tender texture, sweet meat and melting fat, seiro mushi is probably the best way in my opinion.

Serio mushi is a cooking way that steam pork and veggies in a steamer (usually made in bamboo).

Place sliced pork and meat balls on top to let its juice and fat to enrich the flavor of veggie.

The dish is done when the color of the pork changes. I really love the softness of Agu Pork and it's not oily though it contains certain amount of fat.

The teppanyaki version is also good but serio mushi remains the best. Note the bitter melon, cucumber, purple yam and punkin are the common veggies in Okinawa.

We also tried chicken originated from Okinawa in sweet and sour sauce. Yummy but bit oily.

It's good to have the Okinawa tofu as a complimentary appetizer.

This green lantern proves the restaurant use local agricultural products as ingredients.

しまぶた屋 is quite famous in Okinawa and many celebrities left their autographs for the restaurant. It has 3 outlets and the one we visited is located in Naha.
