Boston Re-discovery - Freedom Trail Rerun Part 2

My friend and me had a casual walk along the Freedom Trial. At last, we did not finish everything but found out something more than the route.

The first destination of the day was the Massachusetts State House. The gold dome was originally made of wood and was covered with 23-k gold to prevent leaks into the house later. During the World War II, the dome was painted black to avoid bomb attack. The gold was uncovered in 1997.

William Lloyd Garrison delivered anti-slavery speech in the Park Street Church in 1829. It was a milestone of social equality.

Boston Common is the official starting point of the Freedom Trial. In the absence of electronic media, this oldest park in the country was the place to broadcast revolutionary ideas, say racial equality, feminist revolution. The park was not so quiet in history.

First Public School Site and Ben Franklin Statute. Many renowned great people studied in the First Public School, including Ben Franklin.

Old South Meeting House was the birth place of Boston Tea Party and American History.

In 1770, the Boston Massacre happened in front of the Old State House. British soldiers killed 5 colonists to suppress angry confrontations. Followed by the continuous attempts, the Declaration of Independence was announced at the Old State House in 1776.

Faneuil Hall has been a renowned marketplace and meeting hall in Boston since 1742. Visitors nowadays visit the hall for good food and shopping even they do not plan to experience the whole Freedom Trial.

Bunker Hill Monument in distance. The monuments was built in memory of the first major battle of the American Revolution in 1775. Though the colonists lost the battle, their faith in gaining independence from Britain was reinforced. And the final result is well-know.

USS Constitution and Charlestown Navy Yard is my favorite spot of the Freedom Trial and even of the entire Boston. USS Constitution was a legend for it beat down 4 British frigates. Visitors can learn more about the warship by joining a guided tour or visiting the museum.  Finally, visitors can take a water shuttle as a cheap cruise back to the town centre.

Sorry to say I did not complete the entire Freedom Trial again. The missing points included Granary Burying Ground, Former Site of the Old Corner Bookstore, Paul Revere House, Old North Church and Copp's Hill Burying Ground. Let's see if I can make it next time.
